Like most other major potteries at the time such Rookwood Pottery, Roseville Pottery hired artists to decorate their products. The decorator marks were normally not considered so much as signing the work, but rather the ciphers insured that the work was counted correctly for the purpose of paychecks. Larger full signatures were rarely used, and only on important works. The Roseville works which were artist signed were restricted to several of the Rozane lines such as Royal and Della Robbia, and later occasionally in the decorated Pauleo. Below are some facsimiles of artist marks that can be found, as well as the name of the artist if known.
